The COVID-19 crisis has led to world-wide travel bans and a significant reduction in global flight hours. Consequently, most of the maintenance training sessions have been cancelled for aircraft maintenance technicians or engineers looking for an Airbus Type or Type related training.
To support our Customers and to offer them the opportunity to optimise this “travel restriction period”, Airbus Services has set up an instructor led “Synchronous Distance Learning” solution for theoretical certifying courses & non-certifying courses, which has been EASA and CAAC-approved in a record time.
"At the very beginning of the crisis in China it became obvious that we had to quickly adapt and react to offer suitable Maintenance training solutions to our customers”, said Christian Delmas, Head of Worldwide Maintenance Training.
In a short time, Airbus Services team managed to develop the concept: from the course programs to the Authority approvals.
This distance learning solution allows our customers to perform training locally, at home or in their local premises, without having to travel. A remote Airbus Instructor teaches in real time the theoretical content and interacts with the trainees, using any commercially available streaming tool.
I’m very proud of this achievement that not only helps the company and the customers to adapt to the situation but also makes us ready for what could become a new standard to consider for the restart of operations
Christian DELMAS, Head of Worldwide Maintenance Training
When applicable, customers will be able to participate in local examination sessions.
The first remote sessions began in April 2020.
