Bogota, 04 August 2021– Avianca has selected Airbus Services for a complete cabin reconfiguration for their existing A320 Family fleet. By choosing Airbus’ SpaceFlex next generation, Avianca is preparing for the future, when air traffic level recovers.

SpaceFlex next generation is a mature lavatory and galley AFT complex which enables airlines to optimise the available space in the rear of the cabin in order to increase seat capacity and/or improve seat pitch throughout the cabin.

Avianca’s selection includes three lavatories, one of them with full access for ‘Persons with Reduced Mobility’ (PRM). The new configuration also includes new Recaro seats which will  enable the use of personal devices on-board, thus adapting to new passenger entertainment trends to use personal devices.

Avianca has advanced in the modernization and simplification of its fleet. In 2015, the airline confirmed the order for A320neo aircraft and in 2012, Avianca Cargo (formerly Tampa Cargo) became the first A330-200 Freighter operator in the region.

Airbus has sold over 1,100 aircraft and has a backlog of nearly 430 aircraft to deliver in Latin America and the Caribbean. Currently, Airbus has over 660 aircraft in operation throughout the region, representing approximately 60 percent market share of the in-service fleet. Since 1994, Airbus has secured nearly 70 percent of net orders in the region.
