Santiago, 02 April 2022 – An A220-300 from Swiss International Air Lines landed in Santiago’s Arturo Merino Benitez Airport for the 22nd edition of the regional FIDAE Air Show, where it will be on static display and perform demonstration flights between April 5 and 8.

Making its way through a regional demonstration tour to stop at FIDAE, Latin America’s biggest commercial and military aircraft airshow, the A220 is the only aircraft purpose-built for the 100-150 seat market, bringing together state-of-the-art aerodynamics, advanced materials and Pratt & Whitney’s latest-generation PW1500G geared turbofan engines. The A220 brings customers a 50 percent reduced noise footprint and up to 25 percent lower fuel burn per seat and CO2 emissions - compared to previous generation aircraft - as well as around 50 percent lower NOx emissions than industry standards.

In addition, the A220 offers extended range capability of up to 3,450 nautical miles (6,390 km), making it the ideal aircraft for domestic and intraregional traffic in Latin America. The A220 cabin is the largest in its size category, with wider economy class seats and 20 percent more overhead storage space per passenger.

With around 15 airlines operating close to 200 A220s on four continents, the A220 has secured 740 orders from more than 25 customers around the world, confirming that it is the optimal aircraft for regional as well as long-distance routes.
