Singapore, 20 February 2024 - Qantas and Jetstar Airways have announced their adoption of the Skywise Predictive Maintenance (S.PM+) digital solution, making an important step in their commitment to operational excellence. By embracing proactive maintenance, both airlines aim to anticipate failures, minimise delays, and reduce Aircraft on Ground (AOG) incidents.
Signed at the Singapore Airshow, the agreement covers Qantas' A330 Family and Jetstar Airways' A320 Family fleets, respectively. The full implementation of S.PM+ is already underway, with Qantas and Jetstar Airways having begun to integrate the solution in 2023.
This builds on an earlier agreement between Airbus with Qantas and Jetstar Airways when the airlines incorporated the Skywise platform for their fleets in 2019, marking the start of a significant digital initiative in their operations.
S.PM+ harnesses a wealth of advanced aircraft information, anticipating component failure by analysing abnormal behaviour. This means that Qantas and Jetstar Airways can seamlessly transition from unplanned to planned maintenance. This will lead to better management of fleet performance, reduced operational delays and fuel savings.
Airbus' Skywise is the largest digital aviation community comprising several modules including reliability, predictive maintenance or health monitoring. Powered by big data, it offers unique turnkey solutions for airline operators to address their operational challenges, and shape a more sustainable way to operate and maintain Airbus aircraft.
"Our experience with Skywise digital solutions has proven invaluable, having significantly enhanced our reliability and operational efficiency," stated Scott McConnell, Qantas Group Executive General Manager, Engineering. "With the Skywise Predictive Maintenance digital solution, we will be able to further minimise operational disruptions and optimise fleet performance. The capability of S.PM Skywise digital solution perfectly aligns with our commitment to maintaining a high standard of maintenance excellence."
"Airbus is deepening our relationship with Qantas and Jetstar Airways through their adoption of Skywise Predictive Maintenance. We are confident in our airline customers experiencing streamlined operations, reduced costs, and making significant strides towards mitigating the aviation industry's carbon footprint. This collaborative endeavour underscores Airbus' commitment to pioneering innovative solutions that drive operational excellence while advancing global sustainability goals," said Raymond Lim, Head of Airbus Services Asia-Pacific.
