Success continues for the academic training solution ‘Airbus Competence Training (ACT) for Academy’, with the signature of two new agreements in Turkey and Singapore.

These additional  agreements demonstrate the role that Airbus, as a leading aircraft manufacturer, is playing in  ensuring closer links between the academic world and the aviation industry.

Two more schools have joined the list of universities using the ACT for Academy in their curriculum. The seven universities which signed agreements in recent months include: the Indian Institute of Aeronautics (IIA) Group in India; WSU Tech, Broward College and Aviator College in the United States ; CFAI Provence, an Industry Apprentice Training Centre in France, and most recently the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) in Singapore and the Atilim University in Turkey.

‘ACT for Academy’ is a maintenance training software solution under the Airbus’ Training Services that aims to familiarise students with the latest Airbus aircraft technology and maintenance procedures, in a classroom environment. The solution helps to prepare young aerospace students for a career in the aviation industry, equipping them with the necessary skills to meet their career challenges.

‘ACT for Academy’, which complements the basic aircraft training currently available in the curricula of ITE and Atilim University classes, is an operationally oriented, scenario-based tool focused on a ‘learning by doing’ approach. It includes:

  • 3D virtual Airbus aircraft, including virtual cockpit, virtual engines and a walk-around trainer;
  • Scenario-driven exercises to perform typical aircraft systems’ maintenance tasks;
  • General familiarisation on Airbus aircraft courseware to present and explain the aircraft and its systems.

By working on real case scenarios, students not only gain first-hand knowledge and expertise,  they also become more ‘operational ready’, hence more attractive for future employers.

These additional two agreements demonstrate how Airbus adapts to expand into tertiary education institutions and engage a wider population of future engineers and pilots.

“This partnership with Airbus reinforces our efforts to create industry-relevant and authentic learning experiences for our students. By enabling students to work on real-case scenarios, the ACT for Academy training solution allows them to gain first-hand knowledge and expertise of Airbus aircraft. More significantly, it equips them with ‘work-ready’ skills that are relevant to the changing demands of the aviation industry,” said Suresh Natarajan, Principal, ITE College Central.

" We are one of the leading Universities in Turkey which uses this solution in Civil Aviation Education. It will make our graduates highly distinguished and mostly prefered among other Aircraft Maintenance technicians and engineers", said Nafiz Alemdaroğlu, Director, School of Civil Aviation, Atılım University.
