SKY signs agreement for Airbus FHS-Components service
Santiago, 11 February 2022 – SKY, a Chilean-based low-cost carrier, has signed an agreement for Airbus’ Flight Hour Services “FHS-Components” for its entire A320 Family fleet.
Airbus will be responsible for the day-to-day management and servicing of the airline’s components, including: pooling, stock management at SKY’s main bases located in Santiago and Lima, component maintenance and engineering services. The agreement also includes on-site Airbus FHS representatives in Santiago and Lima, as well as logistics and warehousing.
“This agreement will allow us to have at our disposal, in a quickly and timely manner, the necessary parts and components to carry out maintenance tasks of our fleet. This will add to the engineering support that we already receive, and will allow us to continue to efficiently develop our operations in Chile and Peru,” said José Raúl Vargas, Operations Director of SKY Chile and General Manager of SKY Peru.
“We are proud that SKY has entrusted our FHS-Components services and signed a long term agreement with Airbus. SKY will benefit from guaranteed parts availability and secure its operations, while having budget control” said Yohan Closs, Airbus Head of Customer Services Latin America and the Caribbean.
Airbus FHS is gaining increasing success around the world and in Latin America and the Caribbean, as demonstrated by the number of recent contracts with airlines. It offers fully integrated component services that help advance operational reliability and performance of airlines’ fleets while maximizing flying hours.
SKY has been an Airbus customer since 2010 and became an all-Airbus operator in 2013. In 2021, SKY received its first A321neo, becoming the first airline in Chile to operate the A321neo.
In Latin America and the Caribbean, Airbus has sold over 1,100 aircraft and has a backlog of over 500, with more than 700 in operation throughout the region, representing almost 60 percent market share of the in-service fleet. Since 1994, Airbus has secured approximately 70 percent of net orders in the region.
