Fortaleza, 25 July 2022 – The BelugaST ‘Super-Transporter’ landed for the first time in Fortaleza, Brazil, as part of a mission to transport an ACH160 helicopter to a Brazilian operator. This technologically advanced helicopter will be prepared in Azul Linhas Aereas MRO facilities located in the Viracopos airport of São Paulo, where the Beluga will fly before returning to Europe.
In January, Airbus launched a new service to offer outsized freight transportation for customers worldwide with the BelugaST. These cargo aircraft, based on the A300-600 design, have expanded their scope beyond intra-Airbus site transfers to flying missions around the world transporting oversized cargo.
With the new service, up to five BelugaST will fly outsized cargo for commercially contracted customers, serving industries such as engine manufacturers, space, helicopter and machinery manufacturing, oil & gas and energy, land vehicles and other military equipment, humanitarian supplies, among others.
In Latin America and the Caribbean, Airbus has sold over 1,100 aircraft and has a backlog of over 500, with more than 700 in operation throughout the region, representing almost 60 percent market share of the in-service fleet. Since 1994, Airbus has secured approximately 70 percent of net orders in the region.
